Decade-Old Bug Fixed in XRP Ledger
Critical bug nearly allowed unlimited XRP minting before being patched by developers.
A decade-old bug in the XRP Ledger has been fixed, preventing a potential creation of billions of dollars in new XRP. The bug, which had gone undetected for 10 years, could have led to unlimited XRP minting and potentially destabilized the network. Fortunately, developers were able to identify and patch the issue before it caused any damage.
This development may be a relief for XRP investors, who have seen a surge in on-ledger volume over the past day. According to XRPSync data, 2,227,480 XRP changed hands in the last 24 hours, with a total of 11,464 trades. The XRP/RLUSD price has also risen by 1.83% over the same period, reaching 1.4030 RLUSD.
